We are on vacation this week. We would have preferred an earlier fall vacation, but October was a busy month. We stayed at the lodge at P.H. Hoeft State Park near Roger’s City. We enjoyed discovering cool looking rocks, hiking around the park, and seeing some local attractions. Our first night the stars were bright and beautiful along the shore of Lake Huron. We had a fire and made s’mores. The kids enjoyed some star tipping too. We spotted freighters on Lake Huron and some of us enjoyed a beautiful sunrise. We went to Ocqueoc Falls, 40 Mile Point Lighthouse, a local apple orchard and viewed the biggest open pit limestone quarry in the world. We had fun playing games and enjoyed lots of laughter. It was fun exploring a new part of the state we hadn’t seen yet.
Mackinac Bridge
Kevin’s parents came for a visit yesterday and we went to see the Mackinac Bridge. We had lots of fun seeing the sights in the Straits of Mackinac. We ate supper in St. Ignace and couldn’t pass Murdick’s without stopping to buy some fudge. We didn’t swim but the kids did stick their feet in Lake Michigan. We love the beach along Route 2 west of St. Ignace. It was a beautiful day for a trip.
