We are enjoying a two week vacation right now. Today we returned home from a week of camping at North Higgins Lake State Park. My Dad let us use his boat for the week so we had lots of fun going for boat rides, tubing and skiing. We had some rain the first two nights but had several days of beautiful weather. It was nice camping close to home.
Reward for Hard Work
Yesterday Kevin had Jacob, Nicholas, Zachary and Josiah clean the garage. For supper he treated them to McDonalds which we ate at a park by the river in Roscommon. After supper we went for a walk at the Gahagan Nature Preserve. On the way home we stopped for blizzards.
Picnic at Hartwick Pines
The boys and I went to Hartwick Pines for a picnic today. It’s been a beautiful day.
Picnic and Hike
Today is Luke’s birthday and he wanted a picnic lunch followed by a hike at Marl Lake. It’s been a beautiful day. Marl Lake is one of my favorite hiking spots. We saw chipmunks, dragonflies, and frogs.
Pretty Scenery
On our way to drop Kristi and Luke off at camp yesterday, we stopped at a scenic overlook in Mio. We’ve driven by there several times in the past without stopping. Yesterday we took some time to enjoy the scenery.
June Beauty
I’ve been enjoying the lush green foliage and flowers that are blooming this month.
Pretty Morning
I walked early this morning and watched the beautiful sunrise.
Lots of Sunshine
We’ve seen lots of sunshine this week.
P.H. Hoeft State Park
We are on vacation this week. We would have preferred an earlier fall vacation, but October was a busy month. We stayed at the lodge at P.H. Hoeft State Park near Roger’s City. We enjoyed discovering cool looking rocks, hiking around the park, and seeing some local attractions. Our first night the stars were bright and beautiful along the shore of Lake Huron. We had a fire and made s’mores. The kids enjoyed some star tipping too. We spotted freighters on Lake Huron and some of us enjoyed a beautiful sunrise. We went to Ocqueoc Falls, 40 Mile Point Lighthouse, a local apple orchard and viewed the biggest open pit limestone quarry in the world. We had fun playing games and enjoyed lots of laughter. It was fun exploring a new part of the state we hadn’t seen yet.
