As a family we are working on James 1:19-20 this week.
James 1:19-20 (ESV)
19 Know this, my beloved brothers: let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger;
20 for the anger of man does not produce the righteousness that God requires.
I find memorizing God’s Word enriches my time spent in prayer. It helps not to pray amiss when we are using God’s Word as the basis of our petitions for others and ourselves. Verses I have memorized bring conviction when I sin. When I am tempted to sin it’s so nice when a verse comes to mind that keeps me from sin.
I want to know God’s Word and allow it to do the work my heart needs. Instead of giving my children lots of little lists that I’ve come up with to keep them in line, I want to thoroughly equip them with the Word of God and allow the power of God’s Word and the power of the Holy Spirit to give them discernment and understanding. I pray that my children will always walk in truth.
